Casio Music UK, one of the world’s most renowned producers of musical instruments, has teamed up with esteemed examining board ABRSM to host a FREE exam Q&A session. On Saturday 27th July, Casio will be joined in Musicroom, York, by ABRSM examiner, Joy Crick, and ABRSM Regional Development Executive, Kerry Baldwin. Piano teachers will be able to ask Joy and Kerry any questions they have, try out ABRSM’s range of digital resources and hear about recent developments at ABRSM. Teachers will also be able to take advantage of special discounts on ABRSM publications purchased from Musicroom on the day.

As well as hosting the Q&A session, Casio will be introducing all attendees to its Grand Hybrid Teacher Network - a piano teacher community offering rich teaching resources, FREE workshops and special offers on its award-winning Celviano Grand Hybrid digital piano.

Casio’s premium Celviano Grand Hybrid range is designed in collaboration with esteemed acoustic piano manufacturer C. Bechstein. It combines full-length precision wooden keys replicating the natural travel and the recoil of an acoustic grand piano, but with the added benefits of innovative digital sound technology.

Casio Music UK’s Marketing Executive, Jack Terroni says: We are delighted to be joining forces with ABRSM to provide yet another useful resource for piano teachers. At Casio, we are committed and passionate about providing piano teachers nationwide with the tools they need to help teach. This session will provide vital insight into how exams can be best approached and most importantly how students can be best prepared.”

John Holmes of ABRSM added “At ABRSM, we believe fundamentally in developing the all-round musician. When we assess performing skills through playing an instrument or singing, we are evaluating the candidates’ control of pitch, time, tone, shape and performance. In partnership with Casio, we hope to provide piano teachers with the tangible tools and creative ideas they need in order to nurture performing skills, helping them to enable their pupils to achieve the best results they can. The ABRSM Examiner promise is ‘I’ll do my best to help you do your best’. This event will exemplify that by providing insight from the heart of the exam experience.”

Graduating from The Royal Academy of Music, Joy has 24 years’ experience in music education. Joy has developed teaching skills in a variety of scenarios, from Oboe Specialist, General Woodwind, Curriculum Music (Secondary Schools) through to Whole Class Instrumental Teaching (Primary Schools). Today, Joy is an ABRSM Examiner but continues to teach and play on a freelance basis.
